I bought this a month ago and really like it. The only issue is the door squeaks when you open and close it. Freezer keeps food frozen. It's new so I wouldn't expect anything else.

I bought this frig about 4 months ago, 2 weeks ago I noticed rust on doors. Contacted whirlpool, they told me RUST is cosmetic, and there's only a 3 month warranty on RUSTED STAINLESS STEEL, let me repeat that, RUSTED STAINLESS STEEL!!!!!!

I have always bought Whirlpool appliances. When looking for a second refrigerator, I purchased the Whirlpool 33in Wide Top Freezer Refrigerator. Over the past year, I have been very disappointed in the operation of this Refrigerator. The Freezer has temperature swings from products thawing and semi-frozen, when trying to adjust temperature colder to freeze products in freezer then the refrigerator starts to freeze items. I can not count the number of times that we had to clean melted products out of the freezer and exploded cans of frozen beverages out of the refrigerator.
The poor quality of this refrigerator is also shown in the design of the shelving in the refrigerator and freezer doors. The shelf parts are constantly falling apart and off the doors causing items on the shelves to fall everywhere.

I bought this refrigerator in July, it was delivered in August and it stopped working 1/01/25. Not only did the fridge defrost also the freezer over froze everything. The repair company that was first suggested was not available until 1/6/25 then tried to reschedule for 1/17/25. After requesting a different service company the second service company arrived 1/7/25 and determined the fridge had to be replaced. All the while my family of 4 are living out of a cooler :(
Whirlpool approved the replacement but said it will not be delivered for 3-4 WEEKS!!!!!! I explained I have children and medications that require refrigeration. There was a complete lack of sympathy. I am still without a refrigerator, still buying 28 pounds of ice every other day, still ordering out because we do not have proper storage. This experience has cost me more than the refrigerator. I will NEVER buy another whirlpool and I would encourage everyone to avoid this brand.

Brand new, purchased from University Electric. 5 days old and it™™s raining on the inside of the refrigerator. Opened the freezer and is looks like it™™s snowing. I called University Electric and they referred me to Whirlpool service department. Had to schedule a date for a service repairman to to arrive in three days between 12pm and 4pm.

At the time we bought this refrigerator, it served our purpose. We longer have ownership for this refrigerator as we sold our home in May 2021. So, we don't know if the buyer kept the refrigerator or purchased one with better upgrades to their standards.

I purchased this to replace an existing Kenmore refrigerator/freezer. Keep in mind the old one still worked but wanted to relocate. This one has ™quiet cooling.™ I plugged this one in to cool and the old one was in the same room™¦ This one completely drowned out the old one which was very quiet. So I™™m not sure what the ™quiet cooling™ feature is referring to. Since I thought it should be ™quiet™ I contacted customer service wondering if mine was defective or needed adjustment. I explained the concern and she stated that ™It™™s working perfectly™ and that ™the new ones are louder than old ones.™ This makes no sense other than an excuse as technological advances would indicate otherwise.
Along with this, the sheet metal is very thin. The sides are physically ™blown in™ with insulation causing the walls to balloon and magnets do not stick well. The walls and top are not flat (I found this out while trying to level). It™™s a decent unit, but would I buy again, no.

This review is for this model as well as the model # WRT518SZFG. Freezer door would not stay suctioned closed, Whirlpool (WP) sent out appliance maintenance folks. They said it could not be repaired, something having to do with the magnetic strip in the cabinet of the fridge, WP wanted to try anyway. Their last resort to attempt a fix was to send out a new freezer door, which was "made to order" according to them. It took a grand total of 8 weeks to arrive. Once installed, still would not stay closed.
Then WP agreed to replace the fridge. Would have been great except new fridge had same problem. Now WP agrees to issue a credit and I can choose any fridge I want and pay the difference so I decide to upgrade to this fridge that I am now reviewing. It shows up, SAME PROBLEM.
Finally WP agrees to refund, which was sent out via FedEx upon receipt that the broken one was picked up. That part was fast and seamless.
Here is the thing- the company that owns WP also owns Maytag, Kitchenaid and Amana. Then you have Electrolux who owns Frigidaire (which I have had problems with in the past with multiple fixes of the cooling system/compressor, and finally resulted in fixing the issue by gluing the entire board to prevent leaks), GE (which I have also had problems with compressor issues, luckily within the return window), then LG and Samsung (which I have heard is crap appliances). All of these companies use the same parts and these issues can arise in any of them, and their warranty depts have largely the same approach. So to say I will never buy WP again, I would likely need to boycott all of the major appliance brands as they are all the same. My mother still has the same Admiral fridge she has had for 31 years and it is still going strong. I can't stop saying it but they do not make appliances like they used to. What a shame.

This is a good basic refrigerator. I bought it of necessity to replace a defunct fridge--in August of the pandemic, no less. I wanted a bottom freezer, none available in a reasonable amount of time. So I took this one. I can say nothing bad about it--just that it wasn't what I really wanted. But that's nothing to complain about in terms of the fridge itself!

I bought this one month ago and after 2 week reported and they said no replacement available because I reported 23 days after purchase and they said I have to reported before15 days of purchase. So I lost my money, my last refrigerator was 20 years old same brand and never was repaired. I am very disappointed ð it is no fear. I have to throw all my food.

This is a terrible product. Barely keeps food cold enough in the refrigerator and food in the freezer never gets fully frozen. Door shelves in the freezer are useless. The shelves cannot hold anything as they aren't full shelves, the bottom portion of the shelf does not extend all the way to the "retaining wall" of the shelf. So anything put on the shelves falls right through. We only purchased this product because our frig died during the pandemic and it was the only one available.

My 2.5 year old refrigerator was zapped by faulty equipment of power company. Could not deal with Sears. I bought this Whirlpool refrigerator from Ace Hardware. The transaction was painless and installation very professional. This Whirlpool is a great improvement and pleased with it with a couple of exceptions. The freezer door bins do not hold well- the bottom opening is too wide and items slip through. Have ordered containers to use in these. Also the fresh produce bins controls do not work well. Pleased with the unit with these exceptions.

The movable shelf tray is a nice feature. Love the enclosed plastic shelf bins on the door as opposed to just a plastic strap to hold items. Freezer is a great size.

This fridge is so loud you can hear it 3 rooms over. A loud gurgling hum. The frozen peas fall out of the freezer. You have to slam the door to get it to stay shut or it swings back open. There is no thermometer. The fridge looks cheaply made, there's exposed bolts and foam and bits of glue. I ordered an ice maker and they sent me ice cube trays.

We purchased this refrigerator as a replacement for a 5 year old Kenmore bottom freezer frig that had an LG compressor with a component (the compressor valve) that was known to fail. This Whirlpool was basically all we could find that would work for us. We don't like the top freezer as we often are on our hands and knees to find something on the bottom two shelves (getting old is not fun), but it is what it is. Functionally, it is a bit noisy, about like our old 1995 version frig. It also has a primitive control system that uses a simple dial to "kind of" adjust the temperature in the freezer, which then, somehow adjusts the frig temp. The cold air from the freezer enters the frig behind the bottom shelf, so anything on that shelf near the back freezes. We've seen better systems in refrigerators built in the 1940's, honestly. All this said, it was available and is better than living out of coolers on the back deck, so we can't complain too much. Also, it bothers me that Whirlpool is constantly trying to sell us an extended warranty, for 3 years. If this sucker doesn't last 3 years we are going to be very disappointed. Our first frig (a GE) lasted 17 years. The Kenmore lasted 5 years. Now Whirlpool is basically telling us this one may not last more than a year. See a pattern? Whirlpool used to be the "gold standard" for refrigerators. Now we aren't too sure.

I bought this "American made" refrigerator because it fit into the space I had in my kitchen for a refrigerator. It's that simple. So far it works. It is bright inside. Plastic bins feel flimsy and are small. Freezer Door storage badly planned. Things fall through the large space at the bottom. It seems if I move the refrigerator shelves so the top shelf will take a 2 liter bottle, then I have very little space on shelves below that. Cannot adjust a half shelf, must adjust the full width. I just pray it will last more than just a few years, which is what the installer told me to hope for.

We got this refrigerator a couple of weeks ago and we are totally dissatisfied with it. The doors make noise and the tech came out and said it was our floor, when in reality it the poor quality of workmanship of the refrigerator. To make matters worse, trying to contact Whirlpool is a test of patience. Phone wait times for a person to answer the phone ranged for 40 minutes to over an hour.

Even when new, the temp adjust had to set to lowest level to hold at 39 to 40 degrees. After three years the unit is at least holding that level. Freezer door had to be replaced when new because of excessive seal gap that could not be adjusted out. The main door makes a squeaking noise when opened. Oiling hinges did not help - irritating but doesn't degrade performance. Warranty service was excellent and the unit has performed as expected despite the initial problems. Operation is fairly quiet.

This refrigerator is exactly what I was looking for. I used to buy Kenmore from Sears as they used to be Whirlpool. I got this at a great price as a Black Friday deal. Now, the first issue.....this fridge did not have an icemaker. No problem, I can buy one and install it myself.....WRONG! The two Whirlpool ice makers I bought fit okay but the electrical connector was wrong and not compatible. After contacting Whirlpool parts and given the wrong part number the first time, I was given the "correct" part number and the rep also recognized that the electrical connectors with the available icemakers were not compatible with my model of fridge. She knew that before I said anything about incompatible electrical connections. That gave me a measure of comfort. However, Whirlpool does not have any of these in stock and could not supply me an ETA date for these. I contacted a third party vendor and they were out as well but gave me an 8-12 week ETA. Why does Whirlpool sell a fridge without an ice maker?????? Question of the century! Anyway, ordered the IM and have a long wait and many trips to the convenience store to buy ice. Now I also noticed that this fridge has a hight pitched hum coming from the compressor. Not bad during the day but it gets annoying in the evening when things quiet down. Lastly, the refrigerator door creeks badly like a door in an old haunted house. I tried lubing the hinge points but with no luck. Never had a problem like that before so I'm stumped. The freezer door makes no noise that that is okay. Would like some sort of recommendation from Whirlpool service. Do I need to arrange a service call? Other than the above mentioned issues, this is a very nice fridge with a light in the freezer which I appreciate. The freezer shelf slides out so you have easier access. The meat drawer in the fridge will slide from one side of the shelf to the other which is nice when packing odd shaped stuff in the fridge. Hope this helps!

I was looking to replace my old style refrigerator with the same one. Of course they don't make it anymore since I've had it for over 20 years. I do not like the new side by side or bottom freezer styles. The market is saturated with those. I wanted an old school regular refrigerator. Well that's exactly what I got. My last one was a bit bigger than this one, but it's as close as I was going to get and I am more than happy with my choice. It is just what I wanted. Top freezer with large refrigerator space. Perfect. If you don't want bells and whistles.....go for it....room for food for those who still cook these days lol!

Our 15 plus years old Whirlpool frig started having a problem with the auto defrosting system and was putting water into the frig as it was freezing up the line to the tray underneath. So we needed to replace it, and since the previous Whirlpool frig had last so many years we decided to stick with the brand. This one is a little larger than the previous one, being deeper. Just doesn't have the manual ice cube trays which we will have to add.

It is so easy to clean this fridge- it all comes apart and goes back together with ease. Other fridges I have had were mysterious to reassemble, but this one is easy. Also I love the clear drawers!

I'm so glad I bought this Fridge it's saved my life in the kitchen. So much room for all my needs. The temp control is another great thing about it so easy to set and adjust. The freezer part is roomy enough for all my frozen foods and easy access. I also like the door compartments so handy for all the bottle stuff.

It's a good, simple refrigerator/freezer that does the job, however the l.e.d. bulb in the freezer quit working about 2 months after we purchased it and it's not a standard U.S. bulb. It's some kind of European base so it's going to cost $40+ to replace one tiny bulb. Kind of ridiculous, so just be aware you may not have a working light after a while.

We bought this to replace a 29 year old Kitchenaid side by side we were using in our garage(it still worked great!, just time to move on!)I like the large capacity and openness of the top freezer design versus the side by side setup for storing beverages and overflow from our main fridge and bulk items. The refrigerator has nice glass shelves and 2 acrylic drawers, huge capacity for all of our beverages, and even has door bins large enough for gallon jugs of milk and water. Black finish is nice but not fingerprint resistant, which would be the only drawback, but definitely recommend.
