Nice refrigerator, but very noisy.

We bought this 3 months ago and it was very noisy in the freezer side (you can hear this throughout our house). Every visitor to our house comments on the noise. Whirlpool had a service tech come out and 3 months later it is still not fixed, and we can't get a hold of the tech they acquired to fix it. We have called Whirlpool over and over again and still are waiting. Otherwise, we are satisfied with the product itself.

We have been using the refrigerator for about a month and it does everything it™€™s designed to do. I am still working with some of the features to may them work for me. For instance, where do I store a lettuce keeper that is too high in the vertical shelves. I do like the ice maker in the door and it produces plenty of ice for our family. It™€™s a beautiful black stainless steel refrigerator which adds a bit of class to our kitchen.

We bought this fridge to replace an ancient fridge that was starting to fail. Our new side by side refrigerator is extremely loud, it runs continually and sounds like it is about to take off. When we called to schedule a service call we were told that this could potentially be our fault, the refrigerator was one week old. When the service technician came we were told this was normal. So now we have a refrigerator that is loud, always on and extremely frustrating for the cost of a new appliance.

Regret selecting this model! Ice/water dispenser area too small even for 16 oz. glass and dispensers are too close together causing water spewing onto floor; ice dispenser very loud; NOT ENOUGHT LIGHT - the main center shelves are too dark to see; shelves are stationary and spaced too close together, you can't even set a 16 oz. water bottle or squeeze bottle of jelly except on the very top shelf which isn't large enough to accommodate; the bottom crisper drawer is only about 1/3 of a drawer so you don't have two crisper drawers; you have to use the bottom shelf on the door for tall containers like milk, creamer, etc..and this is very hard for elderly people to bend over to pick up these large items. It is not designed to accommodate anything except very small sizes. I hate to complain, but a redesign needs to be considered esp. lighting & shelf height/spacing.

I bought this refrigerator on July 7th from Lowe's. Delivery was to be made on July 26th. (Over 2 weeks later) Lowe's called me on July 25th to inform me that whirlpool was delayed delivering the refrigerator to the Lowe's warehouse and delivery would be pushed to August. I finally received the refrigerator August 14 a month later. Of course the following week the refrigerator stop cooling and freezing. I waited a month for a lemon. Whirlpool offered me maintenance appointments in my area that was 2 weeks out. (I would think a broken refrigerator is an emergency, but no whirlpool has me wait) At the point I marched Lowe's and demanded they take a return and swap my refrigerator for a new one. Due to the size of my refrigerator space I ended up with another whirlpool model. I've had it for 3 days. I'm praying whirlpool doesn't screw me again. Very poor experience.

I love the black stainless finish - so easy to wipe and keep clean - no fingerprints or water marks ! The ice maker on the door gives me more freezer space on the shelves. I love having ice cubes easily available. The fridge shelves are not quite as sturdy or adjustable as they were 20 years ago but I can live with those differences because the door finish is awesome looking (just don't scratch it). Some of the reviews mentioned the compressor sound but mine is the same low hum as the one I purchased 18 years ago so I don't hardly notice the sound. The water filter is so much easier to replace than on my old model - just flip open the compartment at the bottom outside of the fridge and out pops the old filter. I am very happy with my new Whirlpool 36 inch side X side fridge. Yippee !

Great look and storage, but a little loud.

We've had this refrigerator for about 3 weeks now, and are generally very happy with its appearance and performance. It fits exactly into our fairly tight space, and the black stainless color matches up with the other black stainless appliances that we already had. Storage space seems to be a little better than the Samsung that it is replacing as well. The only downside that we've noticed so far is that the compressor is a little loud. For the first week, whenever I walked into the kitchen, I had to look to see if the dishwasher was running. There is a persistent hum from the motor.

I bought this fridge about a year ago. The water from the refrigerator door ALWAYS drips 3-4 drops after using it and has since day one. The crisper is the most ineffective one I™€™ve ever had. Within days, whatever vegetable you have in there goes bad. My last stainless steel fridge was so easy to clean the stainless steel but this one looks like it needs to be clean right after cleaning it. I would not recommend this fridge to anyone.

I™€™ve had this fridge for ten days and this is what I know so far. It has lots of room, the ice maker works great, I™€™m having to use the highest setting on the refrigerator side to keep the temp just below 40°, it seems to constantly run and makes several odd noises on a regular basis. I read several reviews prior to making this purchase, many complained about ice maker noise, but once the bin filled up that noise pretty much went away. The reviews mentioning the constant run were correct as were the reviews saying it is overall noisy. Bottom line, if it lasts as long as the 17 year old 25 cu ft Whirlpool it is replacing I will still be a satisfied customer.

This is a beautiful refrigerator, very stylish. The freezer on the side is a big improvement over my last refrigerator that had a low drawer freezer proving hard to locate frozen items. The only drawback is that it makes more sound when it's running than my last refrigerator, but I'm acclimating.

So far so good (mostly) after about three weeks or so. Exact date of delivery/setup unrecalled. We are not happy with the fridge emanating a semi-loud humming noise. Literature has said the humming is part of normal operation of the fridge's humidity control. Not sure why the noise is considered normal. It is actually an irritant. The fridge hums more than it doesn't.

It seems like a good unit. I am suprised how slow it makes ice. Also I replaced the same model that was 3 years old and had to be repaired 3 times before it's ultimate death. I honestly would have bought another brand but all my other appliances match it, this time I just made sure I had a better warranty since I already know it is a piece of junk.

The fridge is great, it gives options for crushed or cubed ice. The segmentation and shelving in the fridge is adjustable for fitting large items. We had a similar style fridge that was an older model and we replaced it with this one. This one has a lot more interior room in both the fridge and freezer sides. The ice maker doesn™€™t take up shelving room in the freezer which we love.

We bought three Whirlpool appliances (frig, range & dishwasher) for the Black Stainless finish to match kitchen decor. Finish is lovely and features are just fine. However, the freezer evaporator fan design is BADLY flawed. This is the noisiest appliance I have ever been around. Repair service replaced the fan under warranty, but no improvement; same irritating growling sound. The fan is not adequately sound-isolated from its mountings and the shelf it's mounted in acts as a sounding board that amplifies the vibrations of the fan. If your kitchen is separate from the rest of the house (i.e. not open architecture design), you're probably fine. Otherwise, you're going to hear this noise intruding into every conversation, TV show, and phone call you make. Extremely irritating! Whirlpool: You need to create a field retrofit that fixes this problem and install it free for all your customers. Solutions may include a quieter fan motor, better isolation mounts for fan and motor, or some sort of sound damping material. This is a $2000 frig!

We haven't had this fridge but 4 years and everything has broken on it. Multiple plastic shelves cracked and needed to replace. Ice machine breaks down constantly and now it's officially donezo with the control panel needing to be replaced as the freezer acts like a fridge and the fridge is just room temperature and whirlpool couldn't care less. Such a waste of money! Our older fridge is still kicking after 10+ years. Look elsewhere please.

I love the fridge and the finish is beautiful. The only issue I have is the constant loud humming noise it makes. It stops when one of the doors are opened and I thought it was just getting to temperature but it's pretty loud all the time.

Have had it installed 5 days! Compressor to laud and noisy! shelves are not adjustable! you have to use a thermostat to set temps the indicators just shows a thick vertical line, one line is to low -10 deg 3 lines is to high for freezer but ok for refrigerator. If noise continues will take back. I am recording the noise level. Have to use a cup to catch ice and transfer

I have owned this refrigerator 3 years. I like everything about it except the ice dispenser. it breaks up whole cubes and sprays chips outside the glass. Frost builds up on the bottom of the dispenser and causes problems.

After having a Whirlpool French door/bottom freezer refrigerator in the house we bought 8 years ago, we decided it was time to replace it. We had a side by side refrigerator for 17 years prior to that and loved it. In shopping at our favorite appliance store, we decided on this Whirlpool. I love having water and ice dispenser in the door and the ice maker in the door as well. They do a great job and keep us in ice and chilled water. I like everything about the arrangement of shelves in freezer, refrigerator and the doors as well. Everything is easily accessible for this 5™€™3™€ 75+ lady. It is very quiet also, a real asset when our home has living, dining and kitchen all in one open area.

I bought this approximately 4 years ago. Almost every shelf has broken. Every drawer has broken. The icemaker doesn't work. We have never had problems like this with any other appliances. My last refrigerator was a samsung nothing ever broke on it and I had it for 15 years. So very disappointed with whirlpool. They use to be a stand up company. Oh ya, they didn't replace anything that broke. Don't trust the name anymore.

I wish I would have went with my first instinct to return the refrigerator within the first 30 days of purchase. Since purchasing we have had the door replaced due to issues with the on door ice maker. The temperature control displays goes in and out. The high temps is mediocre. Whirlpool is not want it use to be and my whole house is furnished by Whirlpool. I

Stopped cooling after 2.5 years

Refrigerator was noisy from the beginning - motor and icemaker. Unit stopped cooling after 2.5 years. Very disappointed. Now have to buy another one. Do Not Buy!!!

I love the small ice cubes, but they will drop randomly. The water dispenser tends to run down the front of the fridge. I don't think it has as much space as my previous one. I do like the color and for the most part it's ok.

Ice maker problems

Ice maker stopped making ice. The whirlpool serviceman did come and order part. Parts were slow being shipped. Serviceman had a heart attack and died before part arrived. Part arrive and store repairman replaced the part. Still no ice. A water line part was ordered and replaced. Still no ice. Another repairman came and unplugged fridge, turned ice maker off/on, took cover off and did not know how to fix it. Within 24 hours ice maker began making ice. It made a bucket of ice and then stopped making ice again. Is there a sensor that says, "no ice in bucket - make ice?" Very displeased with this refrigerator!!!

The black stainless looks awesome. The frig is very spacious, l like the can rack. The only drawback is the location of the water dispenser being in front of the ice dispenser.

We just had our refrigerator delivered a week ago and are very impressed. We originally purchased a competitor's refrigerator that was manufactured in China and had to return it due to poor design and difficulty in installing the crisper bins. We also greatly appreciated the personal service we received from the appliance store (Big George's in Ann Arbor Michigan) and the sales representative (Colin Stevens) rather than from a big box store in which it was difficult to even talk to a sales rep. And, we have the satisfaction of purchasing a product from a company based in Michigan and manufactured in the USA!

I would suggest greatly, that they don't put the plastic film under the trim. I can't get it removed. Its frayed at the top and bottom. Looks crappy, I've picked at it over and over. I've used tweezers, I even tried cinging it. Any suggestions??? Maybe you can pay for a repair person to come and fix it, for what it cost me!!!

I love the look of the refrigerator, I love the space and the options. I don™€™t like how the ice maker randomly drops ice on the floor. It™€™s discolored spots on freezer door as well as ruined a place on kitchen floor.
